"Dear Deb/Hansen Family, and the Farm Families, I just wanted to tell you how pleased I am with the produce and meat that the CSA has provided thus far.  It has exceeded my expectations. I also wish to compliment you on your organized pick up and informative newsletters.  People are often quick to complain, and slow to acknowledge good work.  Please pass along my gratitude to everyone for their fine work."

"Thanks for the update. This works great for me, since I love escarole.  I wanted to take a minute to give kudos to Linda, the volunteer at Luther Memorial Church. She always has things very well organized and under control. I've never had any confusion about what I'm supposed to pick up on any given week. She's a gem!  Have a good week!"     Sarah

"Thanks so much for all your work getting the produce out to everyone!  This is my first time with a CSA and everything for my first pick-up went really smoothly.   One thing I'd suggest is perhaps noting when a pick-up address is a residence - I was a little surprised and worried I was disturbing a private citizen.  Cassandra was quick to come out and greet me though!  I did have a couple of strawberries that were past their prime, but I understand that it happens and that it was really damp.  I baked them all into a marvelous strawberry-rhubarb crisp last night and had some for dessert after my lemon-asparagus linguine.  I really appreciate your work, and your quick reponse to issues in offering this service.  Thanks so much!"

"Thanks for the great info and the beautiful produce."

"I just want to let you know that I picked up my first ever CSA box today from 5056 Ravenswood in Chicago. The host family could not have been friendlier or more helpful, and the produce looked great! Thanks so much!"

"My family was THRILLED with both the variety, quantity & quality of the produce we received last night.  This is our first year involved, so we did not know what to expect, and are so HAPPY that we decided to participate.  We look forward to some fresh, delicious recipes in the next few days and to our next pick up!!!  :) "

"My lettuce and strawberries looked great yesterday.  I'm not expecting them to hold up like supermarket produce.  The arugula had some yellowed leaves and some with a lot of holes, but not a big deal since I probably won' t use it all.  My only "complaint" might be that the portion of the spinach seemed kind of small.  My kids won't eat it probably so it is just right for my family, but I can see that it might not be enough for some.  I appreciate all the communication around this first week.  The newsletter was very helpful.  I told myself yesterday I should have signed up years ago.  I am looking forward to my next box and being part of this csa in upcoming years.  I've also been telling friends about it."

"Hi, Deb, thanks, I picked up the shares yesterday.  I had lettuce and arugula in a plastic bag. Both had yellow damaged leaves. I basically just throw the arugula away since the leaves are damaged pretty much.  I don’t want this sound like a "complaint" because with CSA this perhaps happens. I singed up in 2008, and everything could not been fresher. I loved it. So this is first time only, not a big deal. I just wanted to bring this to your attention, perhaps with the warm weather, storing it in a plastic bag while there is water makes it go bad easier, Maybe throw it in the box as is can keep it bit longer.  Thank you."

"Our box is wonderful, thanks Deb!"

About Simply Wisconsin

Welcome to Simply Wisconsin, LLC, a family-owned company Raspberries from L & L Greenhouserun by me (Deb Hansen), and my family; my husband Kris, and daughters Rachel and Carley.  We all help with the business in some fashion, and find that although it's hard work, it's worth doing if we can spend extra time together!

I have always been interested in gardening and farming.  Going back three generations, my family has always been into in gardening and farming:  I have a large perennial garden - many plants found their way into my garden from my mother, grandmother, and their friends, and in turn, many of my perennials have found their way into the gardens of friends and neighbors.  I save seeds to give to my friends.  My father and grandfather spent many years farming, and my grandfather was also an Ag teacher and FFA (Future Farmers of America) advisor for decades. My grandfather taught me to love and value the land and it's bounty - to treat it right and it will provide.

Simply Wisconsin, LLC is not one farm, but a group of many certified organic farmers who believe that local organic produce, meats, dairy, preserves and grains, and eggs should be affordable, and should be for everyone who chooses to eat healthy and buy local!

When you think of organic produce, what thoughts come to mind?  Healthy . . . certainly; sustainable . . . perhaps; expensive . . . probably.  Our mission is to retire the rumor that organic foods have to be priced out of the reach of many consumers, retailers, and restaurants.

We believe that everyone should be able to feed their families quality organic produce; food that tastes better, is chemical-free, and is not trucked across the country!

Below are beliefs that are part of our mission for 2009:

We believe that all consumers should have affordable access to healthy, locally grown produce that is organic.  Organic should not be a product that is available only for a high price!

We believe that all schools should have the opportunity to serve organic, local produce for their snack programs and school lunches, and that organic produce should be priced to accommodate school budgets (at least until they are allowed larger budgets than they have had in the last 25 years!).  We will work with schools in Dane County, and surrounding counties in central and southern Wisconsin, to give them an affordable way to purchase organic, local produce.

We believe regionally, retailers should be able to feature organic produce from local growers year-round for their customers, at a price that is fair to the farmer, fair to the retailer, and fair to the customer.  We will work with retailers in Dane County and surrounding counties in central and southern Wisconsin, to ensure that organic, local produce is provided at a fair price for farmers, retailers, and in the end, consumers.

We believe that regionally, food pantries, shelters, and soup kitchens, should easily be able to incorporate local, organic produce into ther services, to allow their clientele the benefit of healthy meals.  We will work with community organizations, church groups, and anyone who provides the community service of helping those less fortunate, to provide affordable local, organic produce for these organizations.

Welcome to Simply Wisconsin, LLC . . . where local, organic, and affordable go hand-in hand.
